The Lowell High School Boys finished their last game of conference play against Andrean on Wednesday night. Andrean struck first on their home field (17min), gaining a goal off a free kick out of the midfield that was cleverly headed and redirected past the Lowell back line. Heavy pressure from Andrean continued to push Lowell onto their own half of the field, but the defense held strong - backed by Goal Keeper Josh Meadows with 12 saves. Lucas Brady subbed into the game and proved to be a spark that the Red Devils needed. His clever ball handling and great passing helped move the team into the offense half of the field. Brady made key drives that led to goals from both Justin Carlson (assisted by Josh Hejnowski), and Noah Hebble (assisted by Parker Cochran). In the second half, Lowell kept up the pressure, and continued to add pressure. Justin Carlson nearly scored his second goal with a ball off the post that rolled across the enemy line, but the ball would not ultimately clear the goal line. The Red Devil Full backs proved their steadiness and speed of play in the second half, keeping the ball largely at the offensive end: James Fitzpatrick, Trevor Redmerski, Riley Hirjak, and George Kouimanis. Lowell would hang onto their lead as they ran out the clock at the 59ers corner flag. The win finalizes Red Devil Conference play at 5-1, their only loss coming from Hanover in their first game of the season. The boys advance their season record to 12-1.
