The Lowell cross country team capped off another great season by finishing 20th at the state meet. This is the fourth year in a row that the team not only qualified, but finished as one of the top 20 teams in the entire state.
The race was highlighted with some standout performances. Sophomore Karina James had her unbeaten streak for the season ended, but finished 4th overall in a time of 18:04.3. Her 4th place finish is the highest finish by any lady Red Devil in program history. This is Karina’s 3rd All-State performance, adding on to the two she got from track last spring.
Lowell had their top 5 finish in under 21 minutes, which is a huge accomplishment on the tough Lavern Gibson Championship course. Here is how the rest of the team finished…
Reilly Boyer 20:33 (138th)
Jazmin Grund 20:39 (150th)
Megan Kaczur 20:50 (159th)
Brooke Hayden 20:59 (162nd)
Olivia Decker 21:08 (172nd)
Alexia Bibakis 21:21 (179th)
Lowell will return 4 of their top 7 and 9 from their 14 runner state roster, so the future is bright and expectations will remain high for this program.
